Sahara Group, through its philanthropic arm, Sahara Group Foundation, continues to champion advancements in healthcare by contributing state-of-the-art medical equipment to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
In a recent announcement, Sahara Group reiterated its commitment to healthcare improvement through a generous donation of advanced medical equipment to UBTH, reinforcing its dedication to enhancing medical facilities in Nigeria.
The donation aligns with Sahara Group’s earlier commitment to provide medical equipment, facilitated by Sahara Group Foundation, to augment response efforts at the ThisDay Dome Covid-19 Isolation and Treatment Centre in FCT- Abuja. This 360-bed facility set the standard for other isolation centers across Nigeria.
According to the official statement released by Sahara Group, “The Sahara Group Foundation devised a comprehensive strategy to distribute medical equipment to healthcare institutions nationwide, aiming to elevate healthcare accessibility and equip tertiary health institutions with cutting-edge facilities. In collaboration with Asharami Energy, the University of Benin Teaching Hospital was identified as one of the recipients for this medical equipment and supplies.”
The equipment includes a range of essential medical devices such as a dialysis machine, automatic dialysis chair, suction units, monitors, oxygen tanks, medical beds, manual ICU beds, and drip stands, among other critical items. The official handover ceremony took place at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital on Monday, November 6, 2023.
This significant contribution underscores Sahara Group’s unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility and improving healthcare infrastructure in Nigeria. The donated equipment will undoubtedly enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide quality healthcare services to the community and contribute to the overall advancement of the nation’s healthcare sector.
Sahara Group remains at the forefront of impactful corporate citizenship, exemplifying how private enterprises can play a pivotal role in addressing critical healthcare needs in the country. The collaboration with Asharami Energy demonstrates the power of partnerships in driving positive change and fostering a healthier, more resilient society.
As the University of Benin Teaching Hospital receives this state-of-the-art medical equipment, it marks a significant step towards fortifying healthcare institutions and ensuring a better healthcare landscape for all Nigerians.
